Forge a new winter passion in the Huon Valley
Kick things off by the fire
To celebrate the winter season, kick off your weekend with a relaxing welcome session at our favourite local wine bar, eatery, and gallery, Harvest and Light.
Enjoy local Tasmanian beverages, homemade pickles and yummy nibbles by the warmth of the fire while we get to know each other, talk through some knifemaking theory and what you’ll be learning over the next two days.
Make your knife
Join us in the warmth of the forge overlooking the river in the picturesque Huon Valley to learn how to harness the magic of fire and metal to make your own kitchen knife.
Over the course of 2 days you’ll choose a kitchen knife style from our templates, learn and perform the different processes of crafting your knife including forging, grinding the bevels, heat treating and making a Japanese style handle.
At the end of the class you’ll leave with your own handmade heirloom knife.
